The 1999 season for the Robert E. Lee Red Raiders has been what you would call "just another season." Just recentely has Robert E. Lee football been very consistant at maintaining a winning record over the past 40+ years of this schools exsistance. Mike Owens has molded the Robert E. Lee football program into a unbreakable group of young men who love the game. With more sophmore starters than ever before, Owens went 8-2 in regular season, 4-1 in district and Owens brought home what he has been wanting for a long time here in district 12-5A, A district championship. Now, with a well respected football team in East texas, Owens is looking forward to next year and building new players from scratch, and basically adding talent to talented players. After falling to mesquite in the second round of the Texas highschool playoffs, the team was devestated and Owens and his staff is goin to build a new image for next year, for further stats and profiles, read more in my football section of the site.

The offseason
The offseason is basically the time period when your type of sport is over, and you train for the next one. Lee's football squad has more heart than any one of their competitors. Almost all of the games they win comes from hard work and the effort they put in. Lee football isn't really that talented, they work hard to win the games. All of this, starts in the weight room, in the offseason. The coaching staff at lee has one of the greatest weight lifting programs in East texas. The program is basically aiming for lower power and upperbody strenghth. In the summertime, coaches encourage the players to attend a special 9 week speed camp called "SAQ" or "Speed, Agility, Quickness." This is one of the top ranked most respected speed camp in the United states with an average of 350+ every year, not including their winter SAQ.
